  • Purchase the course books.
  • Read Email Guidelines (in case you need to contact the instructor).
  • Review the following in HTML Dog's HTML Beginner Tutorial
    • Getting Started
    • Tags, Attributes, and Elements
    • Page Titles
    • Paragraphs
    • Headings
    Keep in mind that web browsers are more finicky than English teachers when it comes to grammar and syntax. Be sure to proofread your code carefully.
  • Read Your Weblog and about reading response posting requirements.
  • Read all pages listed in the table of contents for Jakob Nielsen's Writing for the Web
  • Post a reading response (300 word minimum) in which you discuss
    • What you feel is most important to know about the differences between composing for print and the web and
    • Why those differences are important.
    In composing your reading response post, demonstrate what you have learned about HTML by using at least two heading tags (begin with h3--do not use h1 or h2) and two paragraph tags. In other words, compose your post in HTML, and paste your HTML code into the Body field. Compose your text using just the paragraph and heading tags you learned in the tutorial (i.e. don't include <body>,<html> or any of the other header information) .
  • Read
  • Post a reading response (300 word minimum). As above, use HTML to format your post. You will use HTML to format all of your weblog posts in this class.
